Arithmetic only. The water figure is treated as the volume of the finished solution, which is an assumption and not a measurement, and no vial, powder or barrel is known to this page.

Short answer
What this tool is: a PT-141 dosage calculator that moves between micrograms and syringe units, working from the vial milligrams, the water milliliters and the barrel scale entered above, and from nothing else. It is the tool page, not the approval page.
The one strength with a document behind it: the approved bremelanotide product is a solution holding 1.75mg in 0.3mL, which divides out to 5.833mg per mL. Every other concentration here is arithmetic on figures a reader supplies.
Why micrograms keep appearing: one milligram is 1,000 micrograms, so a vial figure and a per-unit figure sit three decimal places apart.
What a milligram is made of: that same label prints 1.75mg of bremelanotide as equivalent to 1.89mg of bremelanotide acetate, so weighed salt and net peptide are two numbers.

Three conversions stacked in one line
Milligrams into micrograms: the vial field reads in milligrams and the amount field reads in micrograms, and the step between them is 1,000 in either direction. A decimal set one place wrong puts the answer out by a thousandfold, and no amount of care taken over the later steps brings it back.
Milligrams into a concentration: the vial figure over the water figure is mg per mL. The identical liquid described a thousand times finer is mcg per mL, and that is the unit the rest of this page runs in.
A concentration into a barrel reading: divide the mcg per mL by however many units the barrel puts into a milliliter. A U-100 barrel puts 100 there, so a single unit is a hundredth of a milliliter.
Order does more work than any single step: the water settles the concentration, and only then does the scale settle the reading. Two vials carrying the same milligram figure land on different marks the moment their water volumes differ.
Is there a labeled PT-141 strength to check a vial against?
One, and it is not a vial: the approved bremelanotide product is a clear solution of 1.75mg in 0.3mL in a single-dose autoinjector. That is section 3 of the approved prescribing information, printed there as the dosage form and strength.
What the approval records return: queried on 9 August 2026, FDA's Drugs@FDA data holds one application for the generic name bremelanotide, NDA 210557, carrying one product, a subcutaneous solution whose strength the agency records as equivalent to 1.75mg base in 0.3mL. A DailyMed search for the same drug name on the same day returns one label. Both queries are written out in the sourcing section.
Why an autoinjector is the wrong shape for a converter: it expels a fixed volume from a sealed device, so there is no barrel to read and no reconstitution to work through. The single thing the approved product hands the arithmetic is a concentration, and a concentration is the one input the arithmetic cannot work without.

One worked example, with the labeled strength beside it
The documented figure first: 1.75 divided by 0.3 is 5.833mg per mL, so a milliliter of the approved solution carries 5,833mcg. Divide that by 100 and one U-100 unit of it holds 58.33mcg. Divide it by 40 instead and one U-40 unit holds 145.8mcg, because a U-40 unit is the larger volume.

Every figure here is division on two numbers printed in the approved prescribing information, sections 3 and 11. Nothing in this grid describes an amount to use.
Now a vial, which behaves differently: a 10mg vial figure sitting in 2mL of water is 5mg per mL, restated as 5,000mcg per mL, and one U-100 unit of that holds 50mcg. The round numbers below were chosen so the division stays readable, and the converter will take any others.

What the table is not: a schedule, a ladder, or a set of amounts anyone here is putting forward. They are five round microgram figures picked because they divide cleanly, and the 1.75mg on the approved label belongs to a different product, a different population and a device that does none of this arithmetic.

What the documents say a milligram contains
A milligram of what, exactly
Two numbers for one amount: section 11 of the approved label describes bremelanotide acetate as a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide, and states that each pre-filled syringe holds 1.75mg of bremelanotide, equivalent to 1.89mg of bremelanotide acetate, in 0.3mL of solution. That is one quantity of material weighed two defensible ways, and the two answers differ by a factor of 1.08.
The acetate content is a range, not a constant: the same section gives the molecular formula as C50H68N14O10 with between one and two acetic acid molecules attached, and gives the molecular weight 1025.2 for the free base. A salt whose counter-ion count is stated as a span is not a fixed conversion factor, which is why the label prints both figures instead of asking anyone to derive one from the other.
The agency records the same distinction: the strength FDA holds against NDA 210557 reads as an equivalence to 1.75mg of base, not to 1.75mg of weighed powder. Where a milligram figure comes with no statement of which of the two it describes, the arithmetic below it is running on an unknown.
Purity is a third question on top of those two: a 2026 stability study of bremelanotide acetate ran forced degradation under International Council for Harmonization conditions and characterized eight degradation products by LC-HRMS/MS, reporting deacetylation, peptide-bond hydrolysis, oxidation and epimerization as the major pathways, more degradation under basic than acidic conditions, and marked susceptibility to oxidation. Mass in a vial and intact peptide in a vial are not the same measurement.
What the converter can see: the number typed into the vial field. It cannot tell salt from base, and it cannot tell intact peptide from a degradation product, which is why the label and the certificate of analysis decide more here than the tool does.
How many units is 1mg of PT-141?
One milligram is 1,000mcg, and where those micrograms land is settled by the water before it is settled by the scale. At 5,000mcg per mL, which is a 10mg figure in 2mL, one milligram takes up 0.2mL and reads as 20 units on a U-100 barrel. The same 10mg figure sitting in 1mL instead makes 10,000mcg per mL, and one milligram then reads as 10 units. The vial did not change and the compound did not change. The reading halved because the water halved, and a question phrased as units per milligram has no answer until both of those are on the table.
What does mcg mean on a PT-141 vial?
On its own, nothing at all. A microgram is a thousandth of a milligram, so a 5mg figure is 5,000mcg and a 10mg figure is 10,000mcg, and the letters only carry meaning once a number is attached. The reason it is worth naming is the size of the error: reading mcg as mg, or the reverse, shifts an answer three decimal places in one direction or the other. Sometimes the wrong answer falls off the end of the barrel and announces itself, and sometimes it lands somewhere perfectly plausible, which is why a result that looks reasonable on a syringe is not a check that anything was done right.
Is the water added the same as the finished volume?
The tool assumes so, and says so: the second field asks for water and the division treats that figure as the volume of the finished solution. Those are two descriptions of different things, and nothing on this page measures the gap between them. What the diluent's own label states about itself is a separate question from this one.
Which is why no water-to-add figure appears here: a milligram amount divided by a target concentration returns a volume of solution, since concentration is mass per volume of solution by definition. Printing that result under a heading like water to add would be naming the right arithmetic after the wrong quantity, and a reader who follows the label rather than the sum ends up with a concentration that was never asked for.
Why will the converter not finish without a syringe scale?
Because the scale is a definition of how a milliliter is divided, and the two common ones divide it differently. U-100 means 100 units to the milliliter, which the Humalog label prints as its strength, so one unit is 0.01mL. U-40 means 40 units to the milliliter, which the Vetsulin label prints as its own, so one unit is 0.025mL and the same number on a U-40 barrel therefore holds 2.5x the liquid. At one fixed concentration that is 2.5 times the micrograms, and the mistake lives in the reading rather than in the number, so counting again more carefully confirms it instead of catching it. The converter prints no per-unit figure at all until a scale has been chosen.

How this page is sourced
The strength was read in the label, not in a summary of it: the concentration this page divides out, the acetate equivalence and the molecular weight all come from the approved prescribing information itself, pulled from the DailyMed v2 interface on 9 August 2026 and read section by section.
The counts were queried, not remembered: the two searches are printed with the reference below so anyone can repeat them. Drugs@FDA was queried through openFDA for openfda.generic_name bremelanotide, and DailyMed was queried for drug_name bremelanotide. Both returned exactly one record on 9 August 2026.
What we deliberately left out: no trial figure, no dose chart and no regulatory history appears above, because a second page already carries all three and putting the same evidence in two places serves nobody. What is here instead is the arithmetic, and the two label figures that give it a fixed point.
